    Step 1 Understanding Self, MBTI

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) is one of the most widely recognized and used personality assessments in the world. Based on the theories of psychologist Carl Jung and later developed by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, MBTI helps people understand themselves and others through a practical framework of cognitive preferences.

📖 How MBTI Works

MBTI classifies people into 16 personality types using four core dimensions:

  1. Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I) – Where you draw your energy from
  2. Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N) – How you gather and process information
  3. Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F) – How you make decisions
  4. Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P) – How you approach structure and planning

Each individual is a unique combination of one preference from each pair. For example, INFP or ESTJ.

If you have your detailed MBTI STEP II report, you can find the respective scores at the last page of the report, something like this: MBTI Results

After you signed up as our member, you can upload the scores of your four core dimensions to get a more precise expert recommendation at the "Step 1 - Understanding Self / Activity 1".

For the other pair, you just need to substract 100 points from your type's score. For example, if your "Introversion" is 82, that will also mean your "Extraversion" is 100-82 = 18. You should then key in 18 in your "Extraversion". See image above for illustration.

🧠 Is It Backed by Science?

MBTI is rooted in Jungian psychology and has been studied, refined, and used in practice for over 70 years. While it has its critics, it remains a popular and respected tool in the fields of education, organizational psychology, career counseling, and personal development.

Studies and decades of practical use show MBTI can:

  • Improve communication and teamwork
  • Support leadership development and conflict resolution
  • Aid in self-discovery and career alignment

Rather than boxing people in, MBTI provides a shared language to understand how we perceive the world, interact with others, and make choices.

✍️ How We Use MBTI

In our platform, MBTI is a lens for helping you uncover your most aligned preferences. Whether you're a deep-thinking strategist, a dynamic leader, or a compassionate helper, your personality type influences the roles you’ll thrive in and enjoy most. While it is not meant to recommend career options, this can be used to reflect if the certain job role can better make use of your preferences, rather than against your preferences.

For example: a high Extraversion will definitely help better in career as salesperson or community leader, as it will feel natural for Extrovert to reach out and talk to strangers, compared to a high Introversion person taking the salesperson or community leader role. We're not saying Introvert can't be salesperson or community leader. It will just feel not natural to Introverts and resulting in Introverts needing to recharge more often.

🗺️ Your Type, Your Direction

MBTI is not a predictive tool, but a reflective framework grounded in psychological theory and observational research. It helps identify recurring patterns in how individuals process information, interact with others, and make decisions.

By understanding your type, you gain access to a structured model that informs self-awareness and supports evidence-based career planning. It provides data points you can validate through reflection, and ultimately leading to more aligned and confident life decisions.
